Gene Hart was a local football hero in the area until 1966 when he kidnapped two pregnant women, forced them into his car, tied them with nylon rope and duct tape, and sexually assaulted them. Later in 1978, he attacked women camping in a cave and left them wrapped in tape covering their entire face, eyes, nose, and mouth in the woods.
