The decreasing number of sites that administer electric convulsive therapy (ECT) in the US has resulted in limited access to this treatment, which may be the only option for people who fail to respond to multiple medications. The inadequate support for psychiatry and mental health treatment, as well as the national approach to ensure access to effective health care, contribute to this issue.
