Over time, quirks and behaviors that were not effective at survival or reproduction have been competed out of the gene pool. Many of the psychological and physical features that have arisen throughout our species' history would be amazing for people to have in modern discourse but many platforms today are built to incentivize argument production, not argument evaluation.
