The director of Blade Runner, Ridley Scott, reveals that the inspiration for the movie came from his late night outings to a diner in Tarzana, where he would write and draw inspiration from the film noir setting. The idea of incorporating science fiction into the streets of Los Angeles came about from the limitations and parameters of his own life at the time.
