Three men were taken from a mental hospital and subjected to a study on delusions led by Milton Roquech, which ended up making their lives far worse than before. One of the men, Clyde, was raised in an overprotected manner causing him to turn to alcohol addiction and when challenged, became violent and shut down anyone who tried to help him.
