The Russian government has abducted two mayors from towns in Ukraine, one of whom was replaced with a Russian appointee, while the other's fate is unknown. The city of Mediopol has been encircled and bombed by Russian troops resulting in a sharp increase in deaths, and basic necessities like power, water and phone connections remain unavailable for more than 10 days.
