Point Reyes National Seashore, located outside of San Francisco, is a unique national park that allows for private farms and ranches to utilize the land for cattle grazing. It was designated as a national seashore in 1962 to protect the area from development and is home to a species of elk called the tool elk that were previously extinct in the area.
