Anarchists, Trots, and Commies: The Spanish Civil War Struggle for Power
The Spanish Civil War was marked by conflict between anarchists, Trotskyists, and communists within the Republican side, leading to bloodshed in the streets of Barcelona and eventually to the dissolution of anarchist-dominated councils and the breaking up of collectives by communist military divisions. Military historian Anthony Beaver blamed the Republican high command and Soviet military advisors for their poor conduct of the war.
