Axon, the parent company of Taser, bought medical examiner companies to preempt lawsuits against medical examiners who might have found their weapons responsible for deaths in police custody. Mark Kroll, who was a paid consultant for Taser, advised medical examiners to exclude tasers as potential causes of death and testified in a wrongful death suit that tasers were like therapy for people with excited delirium.
