On October 27, 1962, known as Black Saturday, President John F. Kennedy and his advisors met to discuss a letter received from Khrushchev and how to resolve the Cuban Missile Crisis. A press report then announced Khrushchev's public statement for the way out of the crisis, which was a much more difficult deal for Kennedy.
