The hope for finding objective morality lies in understanding the psychological and cultural mechanisms behind past progressive changes and determining whether those mechanisms can be utilized to bring about future changes. Although there is agreement on certain social changes being progressive, an abstract theory to explain why they are right or wrong still eludes us.
