Clinician's approach to Cholesterol Significance
A clinician should only pay attention to the patient's total and LDL cholesterol numbers if they have familial hypercholesterolemia and require a PCSK9 inhibitor. The clinician generally uses non-HDL cholesterol minus LDL cholesterol as a proxy for VLDL cholesterol. Additionally, the form of glucose, such as rice or potatoes, should be considered when examining one's lipid profile.
