A House committee has issued a criminal referral against former President Trump and his lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, for obstruction of an official proceeding, in relation to their role in the January 6th Capitol riot. The committee believes there is sufficient evidence to suggest that Trump and his allies attempted to subvert the democratic process, and aided and abetted those who engaged in the violent attack on the United States.
