Researchers have successfully used the CRISPR gene-editing technique to modify marsupials and are now testing infusing the gene editor directly into patients to treat diseases in the liver, paving the way to potentially treating many common illnesses. This platformization of biological tool chains is leading to a new era of translational ability in solving biological problems.
