Despite tension among Democrats on what the party should stand for, there is broad agreement that stopping Trump is the recipe to unite the party. This was evident in the historic Democratic turnout in the midterms, where they still expected to lose the House but by such a small margin that it wasn't really a repudiation and to hold or even gain seats in the Senate.
