The media usually covers missing white women, particularly those who are young and pretty, more than missing people of color and men. The Columbia Journalism Review released a tool that analyses thousands of stories and demographic data to estimate how much coverage a person would receive if they went missing and research shows that there are broad disparities in media coverage of missing people.
