The different ethnic groups in Afghanistan, such as Pashtuns, Hazaras, Uzbeks, and Tajiks, have complex and varied narratives about themselves, which makes it difficult to establish a comprehensive ethnographic map that would represent them all. Nevertheless, as ethnicity can be a source of political mobilization in modern times, it is crucial to understand the different groups and their claims to power in Afghanistan.
