Foster Dulles, whose firm voted to stop doing business with the Nazis in 1935, later backdated the announcement to 1934 to make it appear the firm had cut ties earlier. Dulles and his wife continued visits to Germany despite the tightening grip of the Nazi regime, and he even supported the America First Committee, assuring businessmen that Germany, Italy, or Japan had no plans for war against the US, before WWII began.
