Scientists are using 3D printing to create scaffolding models for growing organs from stem cells, including hair follicles, which have a well of stem cells allowing them to continue working. Research in Japan and the US has discovered how to extract these stem cells and create new follicles in a lab, but shaping the organ is still a challenge.
