How Fusion Reactors Generate Energy
20:08 - 21:45 (01:36)
In a fusion reactor, deuterons and tritons will collide with one another and generate large amounts of energy in the form of particles. The alpha particles produced in these reactions stay in the reactor and heat up the other particles to keep them hot and generate energy, while the neutrons carry out most of the fusion energy and are captured in a surrounding blanket.
