The story of an African American from Mississippi who joined the Mackenzie Papenob battalion of the international brigades to fight against the forces of General Franco in Spain during World War II. Despite the illegality of US citizens joining foreign military forces, hundreds joined the Abraham Lincoln Battalion to resist European fascism.
