Judge Doug Hughes of the 21st Judicial District rejected a defense motion to recuse the district attorney's office in a first degree murder case where his sister is the lead prosecutor, despite concerns of impropriety. The district attorney had also filed a motion to ensure Hughes did not get the case, but another district court judge had rejected it.
