Security researchers are still trying to find solutions to the weak link problem of certificate systems wherein one hacked organization ruins trust for all other certificate authorities. Komodo, a large certificate authority, was hacked in 2011 where the hacker issued fake certificates, but was immediately detected by Komodo and the certificates were revoked.
