Lifeboat documentary was created because of the coalition of volunteers from a small NGO called Sea Watch who discovered a shift of Syrian asylum seekers to cross the Mediterranean due to the Greece-Turkey border shutdown. They started pulling people out of the water and discovered the hundreds of asylum seekers drowning in these flimsy crafts pushed off from the Libyan shores.
