Anthropologists Jan Kowiak and Fisher conducted a study on societies' views on romantic love and discovered that powerful emotional bonds can form between romantic partners despite high levels of deception, as seen in the case of a man who conned over a hundred women into giving or lending him their assets while posing as their lover.
