Muammar Gaddafi fell in love with politics after the overthrow of the Egyptian government in 1952. He was particularly drawn to Arab nationalism and started memorizing the speeches of Gamal Abdel Nasser, reciting them to his classmates who would carry around a small stool so he could deliver impromptu speeches.
