The US government often uses military interventions to distract from the damage caused by neoliberal capitalism, and portrays their interventions as clean and precise while depicting those they are deploying weapons against as violent savages. Prior to the 1880s, US interventions were mostly one-sided, involving little resistance from the targeted populations.
