Paul Manafort, former lobbyist and one of Donald Trump's campaign organizers, had a history of working for overseas clients. In the 1990s, he set up a lobbying firm focused on foreign dealings and had a friendship with an arms dealer named Abdul Rahman Al-Asir, who paid him 90 grand in 1994 to help broker a deal with a French politician to help Pakistan make submarines.
