A rare ichthyosaur was discovered by Joe Davis, who works for the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust, at Rutland Water Nature Reserve whilst doing routine maintenance. The skeleton was deemed too fragile to be excavated at the time of the discovery, but experts believe it could be an important find for the understanding of the species.
