Despite the Supreme Court's ruling on Brown v. Board of Education in 1954, school segregation in the form of separate school houses continued for Mexican-American elementary kids in Marfa, Texas for several years even after the ruling. Integration was done slowly, one class year at a time in schools in Norfolk.
