Slavery in the American South: Last Holdouts and Lingering Consequences
Slavery didn't truly end 100 years ago with the US Civil War, as many of its elements were put back into place, such as the inherited skin color-based caste system that still lingers today. The American South never came to the conclusion that slavery was wrong nor that it should be abolished, and the consequences of this attitude can still be seen in modern-day society.
