The Common Ground team proposed several solutions to reduce polarization on Facebook including creating temporary subgroups for heated conversations and tweaking recommendation algorithms to offer a wider range of Facebook group suggestions. However, these solutions were considered anti-growth and requiring Facebook to take a moral stance which could negatively impact user engagement and time spent on the site.
