The Supreme Court has made an exception to the legal rule against drawing distinctions based on race, allowing for diversity in educational institutions. This exception allows for considering race as one factor amongst many in a holistic admissions process for the purpose of making for a more diverse college campus for students of all backgrounds to learn from each other.
