Technology was introduced to indigenous tribes to help protect their land and culture by teaching them to make their own maps and providing them training. The trios, while mapping their lands, found 13 stands of Brazil nuts outside of the Amazon Basin and decided to create maps of their Brazil nut trees as it is a sustainable resource.
