Timothy Leary, who had been institutionalized for possession of L.S.D., received a visit from Frank Drake and Carl Sagan, who visited him in order to engage in a thought experiment. Leary saved his recordings of every conversation and thought he ever had, resulting in 798 boxes of archival material.
