The law being proposed doesn't outrightly ban abortion, it says that nobody is allowed to perform an abortion after a heartbeat is detected, which is usually six weeks. However, a heartbeat can be detected as early as six weeks, even before people know they're pregnant, which makes the law almost a complete ban on abortion.
