Willie and George Muse, brothers born from a wealthy family in Roanoke, Virginia, were kidnapped and forced into slavery as children. They were on tour as circus performers, in various circuses, for twenty years before finally being released from their contract and successfully sued the Ringling Brothers Circus for years of abuse and exploitation.
