Even a small paint fleck traveling at 22000 miles an hour can cause significant damage to the International Space Station (ISS) and other objects in lower Earth orbit. The risk of collision with space debris is taken seriously, with even a one in one hundred thousand chance causing the ISS to be moved out of the way.
