Physicists have a filter for dealing with new ideas in physics, paying attention to the plausibility and articulation of the idea but finding it hard to pick out an unbiased approach when experiments don't distinguish between ways of doing things, making it hard to introduce new ideas. Some physicists have even been discouraged from pursuing quantum mechanics and other pressing questions.
