Qasim Soleimani, who grew up in a relatively poor family in Iran, got no more than a high school education and began working for the water department in the city of Kerman. His worldview was shaped in part by a man named Palavan who really hated the Shah of Iran and expressed seditious political views to the young Soleimani.
