The Fair Labor Standards Act
The Fair Labor Standards Act, passed in 1938, established the first national minimum wage, maximum number of hours for workers, and child labor limitations; it also prohibited anyone under 16 from working in manufacturing and coal mines due to safety concerns, while allowing for overtime pay at time and a half.
