The FBI is constantly tracking cyber attacks and trying to connect them with other attacks to potentially charge the same gang; specifically, they keep an eye on cryptocurrency exchange attacks to see if any of them have any of the characteristics that would connect them to an investigation they are already running. This is the case for North Korean state hackers who are attempting to gather as much currency as they can to transfer it back to North Korea directly or for use in foreign countries.
