The Fermi Paradox suggests there could be many explanations for why we haven't detected any signs of intelligent life in the universe; one possibility is that truly intelligent beings have decided not to colonize the galaxy due to lack of space. Additionally, the mystery of human consciousness may be even grander than the potential explanations for the Fermi Paradox.
