In the aftermath of World War 1, Benito Mussolini formed the fascist party by bringing together a group of 100 young men who were a combination of war veterans, special forces, former socialist leaders and journalists; he reorganized them into uniformed black shirts and red Fez caps and started going after their political opponents in the street.
