A challenge faced regarding whether the politics have moved on beyond what any monarch can do to stop the forces that would lead away from the UK and towards unification with the Republic of Ireland. The North is not that big a loss economically for the UK, and it would not be an enormous emotional blow for the monarchy, but there's still a long way to go.
