The oldest hallucinogenic drug used by humans is probably P P a O D, followed by mescaline, which is the active ingredient in peyote and has been in use for around 5,700 years. Studies suggest that the religious experiences people have on hallucinogenic drugs are similar to other kinds of religious experiences.
