The US needs to collectively take up the responsibility of slowing the contagion over the next couple of months, through testing and contact tracing, in order to facilitate the return of the world and the economy to something like normal again. This remains imperative to avoid the pendulum swing effect of trying to restart, then realizing the danger of contagion and again shutting down, a scenario that only prolongs the impact of the pandemic on the economy and the world at large.
