A study found that direct stimulation of the clitoris improves the regularity and quality of orgasms for women compared to sexual intercourse without direct clitoral stimulation, where only about one-third of women experience an orgasm. Women who orgasm more frequently also reported a higher awareness of their bodily sensations, more erotic fantasies, more variation in sexual behavior, and higher emotional intimacy in their relationships.
