The Ku Klux Klan's history with police officers in the US
The Ku Klux Klan had a strong presence within police departments in the US during the 1870s and 1930s, making it easy for Klan members to become police chiefs, local officers and judges. The 900 people who broke into the Capitol and attacked police officers have been prosecuted under the 1871 anti-Klux Klan law.
