The murder of a young African American man, Michael Donald, by the Ku Klux Klan, sparked a wave of change that helped bring down one of America's most feared hate groups. The Klan was angry over the acquittal of a black man accused of killing a white Birmingham police officer, and decided to take their rage out on Donald, an innocent victim.
